The Dragonfly is a 128-floor vertical farm concept that will definitely get locavores drooling. Conceived by Vincent Callebaut Architectures, the building supports housing, offices, laboratories and 28 different agricultural fields. It completely sustains itself using solar-power, wind-power, and captured rain.
Simply Green Issue 6 2012
Architects and developers worldwide are building towards sustainable living. One cannot help but to think it is aimed at the ‘rich and famous’. BUT the good news is you can be totally self-sustainable in your own home too and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg either. We have the sun in South Africa, use it. We have a good rainfall in Gauteng; harvest your own rainwater and get off the grid. Gas is available; change your kitchen. Use your grey water for your garden; it is perfect for vegetable gardens too. Simple neh?
