That is what the recently launched ‘Trees for Zambia’ reforestation project is all about.
Greenpop, a social enterprise combatting deforestation in Southern Africa, is inviting as many tree-loving volunteers as possible to join community members and learners from 20 schools in planting 5 000 fruit and indigenous trees over a period of three weeks near the Victoria Falls in Zambia.
Greenpop says Zambia is the country with the second highest deforestation rate on the world. This voluntourism project, taking place from 1 to 22 July, will be the start of an ongoing campaign to make Zambia greener and more sustainable. Volunteers over 17 can write to firstname.lastname@example.org to secure their bookings.
